A Total Despair Due to an Incurable Disease with No Established Cure

I was diagnosed with an incurable disease for which there is no established treatment. The prescribed medication also reduces my chances of having a child, and I am filled with a sense of despair when I think about marriage, childbirth, and the future.  (Female in her 30s)

No matter how much despair we feel, the one who guides us to live with hope is Ōyamanezunomikoto, the Kami who protects our kokoro. The workings for one’s happiness can be grasped from Shinji

Weaknesses may appear due to the constitution we are born with or genetic factors. However, if you have a healthy kokoro, even incurable diseases for which no cure has been established, the symptoms will stabilize, the treatment will be effective, and possibilities will open up. Because the kokoro and body are linked.

Learn the teachings and make use of them in your kokoro (life).
Your kokoro will shine bright; and you will become a person who accepts everything (reality).
When one lives the truth with principles, human beings will experience true health.
True health that human beings should realize today is; that true health exists in a person who accepts all encounters, and who has reached to live life with a kokoro of gratitude.

When you study Kami’ s teachings, you can see your own way of life, way of thinking, and personality tendencies. If you notice things that need to be corrected, such as comparing yourself too easily, or having negative thoughts, offer kigan and make efforts to improve. Even if you are unable to accept the reality, you can release your feelings through kigan and hope that your kokoro will remain bright, strong, and positive.

Be honest with your parents and family about your painful feelings, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. The more you feel the love of your family who supports you, the more secure you will feel and the more stable your feelings will become. By keeping your kokoro in a healthy state, you will be motivated to tackle the issue positively starting with the things you can do now. Your painful thoughts will gradually fade away, and your feelings will become brighter and stronger. This is where the power to live—the vitality, is drawn out.

Every person has an unmei to contribute to society. No matter the situation, if you follow Kami’ s teachings and interact with many people and make use of your relationships, you can live a fulfilled life with hope.
