Unable to Work Because of My Chronic Illness, I Have Started Investment, but I Feel Insecure

My chronic illness worsened and I couldn’t work as much as I used to before, so I started investments as a preparation for the future. However, there are fluctuations in the stock market, and because of this, I feel anxious when I think of my retirement. (Male in his 60s)

To contribute to other people using one’s strength, or to practice a kokoro to give back―this is the principle of work. It is only when you are of help to others that you find your life filled with meaning and purpose. That’s where life stability comes in.

Investing is volatile, with good times and bad times. It must be said that it is practically impossible to invest as an individual and to maintain a stable life.

Learn the teachings as a family; family members must endeavor to create a family that lives by the principles.
Conversation in the family will gradually grow and troubled thoughts will disappear.
It will become a peaceful family where there are no illnesses, accidents, or disasters.

Even if it is difficult to work as before, seek work where you can be useful for others by doing what you can do according to your physical condition and strength.

Also, if you have a chronic illness, you need to think about your future and discuss how you live, with your family. As for the process of your treatment, share your thoughts with your families. Don’t face your illness by yourself, but try to regain a healthy life receiving their supports.

By putting yourself in a harmonious environment where your families can communicate your thoughts and feelings, your physical condition will surely stabilize. And given that environment, focus on doing what you can with what you are blessed with.
