Not Having a Stable Job, I Feel Bad for My Wife

I had been working as an engineer, but my skills have become out of date and turned out to be useless in my workplace. Therefore, I resigned from the company and started to work for another firm in the same industry. However, as my contract came to an end, I am currently job searching. I feel bad for my wife who has a stable job with a big salary. (Male in his 40s)

Human beings tend to place great emphasis on things and form―such as the amount of their income or the levels of their skills. However, what one is required to have in order to be of use with their work is the kokoro to give back, rather than skills.

Encounters do not deepen when understanding about situations and things is materialistic.
The ties between all people and all things deepen when the love that is given is mutual.
The kokoro to give back takes root and trust steadily begins to grow; and you become the person (existence) who meets expectations.

Making the atmosphere of your workplace good by greeting cheerfully, or being concerned with your colleagues so that they will harmonize with one another―there are a lot of ways to contribute to your workplace, other than showing high skills. When you are filled with love for your surroundings and your job, and meet the expectations that you receive by action, then your irreplaceable existence will be fulfilled.

The kokoro to give back, which is essential for work, is fostered when practiced in one’s home. Therefore, start with communicating with your spouse more openly and honestly.

Be aware of your role as a husband who is expected to support the family, and focus on deepening your ties with your wife. Even in the middle of job-hunting, if you are positive and filled with enthusiasm to contribute to society, then you will become a trustworthy support to your wife. Thus you will be able to support the kokoro of your family members without fail.

The more you and your wife respect and trust each other, the more you will be sought out in society and meet the expectations from many people.
