(KH from Kanagawa Prefecture/50s/Female/Housewife)
My husband works at an office away from home, living by himself.
One day he and I had an argument; he insisted that he had never heard what I surely had told him. This triggered a gap between us.
Hoping for the settlement, I looked back on my attitude toward my husband, based on the teachings of Kami. Then I found that I had pushed my opinion trying to push things my way, without listening to him or paying any attention to his feelings.
Heartwarming conversations recalled our compassion for each other
Shortly I had a chance to make up our relationship. My husband came back to spend some days at home. I decided to have a hearty interaction with him, and tried to listen to him carefully to sense his feelings. I told him what I found was wrong about the argument, and apologized to him. He understood my feeling and said, “I was wrong too. I did have things I should have told you appropriately.” This incident taught us the importance of communication even on a trifling matter, and also made me think to spend the rest of my life along with him.
No fears but a sense of relief when he go back
During my husband’s stay, we had a precious time together such as celebrating our son’s 20th birthday. When he had to leave, he said “Don’t worry about me. I feel totally refreshed.” It was strange that I felt secure in spite of such an uncertain situation with COVID-19.
Five years ago when my husband was implied a transfer, I felt uneasy about many things. We talked out the matters and I finally made up my mind to support him as a wife. Remembering this, he showed me his appreciation with the word, “Thank you for having accepted my transfer at that time.” I was full of gratitude. I thank him for being with me.
Strengthening the bonds with Kami year by year
Now I am confident that I can overcome any difficulties, and each experience I gain in my life becomes meaningful if the teachings of Kami are deep-rooted. I enjoy the growth of myself through the experience year by year.
