Just learning is not enough! I fully realized the importance of practicing the teachings.

(MN from Chiba Pref./ Male/ 50’s/ Office worker)

My boss shifted his work on me over and over.  I got frustrated with him, feeling “again?” “why me all the time?”  It was then, I learned “when you can’t be grateful to someone, it is on you not on the person you are dealing with.  You should admit your narrow mindedness.”  This struck me and made me decide “I will practice what comes to my mind from the teachings, and make it the most at work with kigan.”

The first thing I did was to start to ask Kami for my calm and broad mind before going to work.  Shortly, my way of thinking changed.  I became placid enough to be considerate of others, and was able to think in their shoes to think “the boss also has a lot to do and is at a loss.”  When he told me to do his job, I didn’t feel as much as forced to any more, and was willingly doing it.

One day, the boss said to me, “I’m sorry to ask you many things.  I’m always grateful to you.”  I was surprised and then reflected on myself.  I had been complaining of him without understanding his situation.  Now I fully realized the importance of the teachings to be practiced in a daily life.

In the future, I may face some things I don’t expect.  But I feel confident because I can correct myself to the right path through the teachings and find what I should do.  I can assure “Learn and practice” repeatedly is the key.
